Alzheimer’s makes us confront the ambiguous loss that is hard to see at times, but is deeply felt by all of us.
Our journey is uncertain. I hold on tight to our rocky ship because I am Charlie’s compass. I try to tame the waves of strife and sadness and look for the light and joy we continue to find in the art he makes, in our community, and in the natural beauty that surrounds us. Our story is as tangled as the roots of old trees, but I try to allow our life and this film to unfold on its own terms. Love, patience and tenacity guide me as director, wife, and care partner.
